Work Overview
In this composition I have tried to capture many aspects of Uluru. The opening depicts the very beginnings of Uluru millions of years ago. You hear the instruments "summoning" the spirits, calling the Anangu people along the song lines or tracks. Then, the spectacular sunrises, the beauty, the awe-inspiring landscape, the birdlife, the creatures, the stars at night.
During the choral section which follows, we learn of the culture, the spiritual aspects and the meaning of the language, the legends, then the often harsh elements, the rocks and caves, the floods, the birdlife, the creatures, and the relentless sun during the day.
The composer acknowledges and respects the Anangu people as the inspiration and notes that Anangu language is used within this work with permission.
