Work Overview
August Offensive is a fast and powerful short work for orchestra. It was commissioned as the penultimate movement in the Gallipoli Symphony project funded by the Australian Government's Veteran Affairs Department. The overall project includes movements composed by selected Australian, Turkish and New Zealand composers in commemoration of the World War One events at Gallipoli in 1915.
August Offensive exists in versions for a small-size orchestra and for large orchestra.

Instrumentation: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 B flat clarinets, bassoon, contrabassoon, 2 French horns in F, 3 trumpets in C (trumpet 1 doubles trumpet in E flat), 2 trombones, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion (2 players), harp, strings.
