Instrumentation: 4 flutes (4th doubling piccolo), 3 oboes (3rd doubling cor anglais), 4 clarinets in B flat (2nd doubling clarinet in E flat, 3rd doubling bass clarinet, 4th doubling contrabass clarinet), 3 bassoons (2nd doubling whirly tube, 3rd doubling contra-bassoon), 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, percussion (4 players), 2 harps, electric guitar, piano (doubling celesta), synthesiser, strings (16.14.12.10.8).
