Archie Tulk (b. 2003) is an emerging composer and musical artist,
whose ever-expanding creative vision sees his work fluidly move
between artistic disciplines, composing contemporary art music,
alternative popular music and scoring/arranging for multimedia
projects. Over the past few years, Archie has had works
commissioned and performed by Dutch National Opera & Ballet,
Residentie Orkest, Luminescence Chamber Singers, Roctet, Sydney
Children's Choir, Quatuor Bozzini, Muze van Zuid Festival, The
Polish Children's Fund, The Choir of St Pauls, and Sydney
Conservatorium Chamber Choir. He is currently in his final year
of Bachelor of Music Composition at Royal Conservatoire The Hague
in the Netherlands (graduating in 2026), studying under the
tutelage of Martijn Padding and Peter Adriaansz, with his
overseas study made possible through a music scholarship granted
by The Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust.
Archie began to hone his compositional voice at the
Conservatorium High School in Sydney, under the tutelage of Jack
Symonds, and upon graduating received the James Easton Memorial
Composition Award. He began his tertiary studies at Sydney
Conservatorium on a merit scholarship, where he quickly gained
recognition in Sydney's choral music scene for his distinct
compositional style, leading to performances of his works by the
university choirs of St Paul's College Sydney and Sydney
Conservatorium Chamber Choir, and later receiving commissions
from Sydney Children's Choir for program 'Gumura', and
Luminescence Chamber Singers for their project 'Garden of Earthly
Delights'. With a desire to continue his tertiary studies
overseas, in 2023 Archie was offered admission at both The Royal
Danish Academy of Music, and Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Since
relocating to the Netherlands, Archie has had to opportunity to
compose for an array of exciting projects, including for The
Hague's Residentie Orkest as part of their One Minute Symphony
program, and most recently he composed a chamber operetta for the
Dutch National Opera & Ballet's Opera Forward Festival 2026.
Archie is also a passionate performer of vocal music across a
variety of genres and settings, currently finishing a minor study
in Choral Conducting under the tuition of experts László Nemes
and Krista Audere. Archie has sung regularly with the Consort of
Nicolaasbasiliek Amsterdam, has performed as an ensemble artist
and apprentice with The Song Company, in Fullness of Joy (2022),
and has held choral scholarships at The Choir of St James, The
Choir of St Paul's and Christ Church St Laurence, all based in
Sydney. Archie co-founded ensemble False Relations during his
final years of high school and has since performed with them at
the Canberra International Music Festival, a sold-out premier
concert at Christ Church St Laurence, and for Phoenix Central
Park, with the ensemble notably amassing over 4 million views on
Tiktok and Instagram.
As a contemporary creator, Archie thrives in the intersection of
diverse styles, seamlessly integrating his personal experiences
with his ever-evolving artistic vision.
