'Rivers' incorporates worldwide concerns about water and the environment with the spiritual journey associated with the Ganges. Rivers will premiere a new work by Campbelltown Arts Centre’s composer in residence, Mary Finsterer, under the artistic direction of classical saxophonist Christina Leonard, who will perform with the saxophone ensemble Compass and guest artist Bobby Singh. The concert will also feature a dynamic collaboration between Compass, Sydney world music group Yellow Monday and Mary Finsterer. Rivers is a unique performance, featuring an intriguing combination of instruments played by musicians from a diverse range of traditions, working with both notational music and improvisation, and includes traditional Indian call and response to create a vibrant evening of contemporary music.
