Angelita Biscotti : Associate Artist
Angelita is an emerging sound designer, producer and
composer-performer whose practice embraces the uncanny, the
surreal, and the beyond-ordinary within the quotidian, the
strangeness in the familiar. Angelita's eclectic artmaking
sensibility is characterised by the blurring of genre, gender and
digital/IRL edges; nomadic melancholia; global civic
consciousness; and the urgently felt sonic qualities of the
present. Angelita's sound combines textured uptempo techno
flourishes with glitch-driven melodic improvisations, urban field
recordings, and experimental opera vocals, traversing
high-concept and pop. (Pronouns: They/them, she/her)
In 2026, Angelita's hour-long experimental audio collage mix
"Gallivanting" will be played at Sala: Instant Kalpa at the
Thailand Biennale 2025 - 2026 in Phuket. The work is an uncanny
blend of gonzo field recordings from Manila (Philippines) and
Naarm (Melbourne, Australia), with improvisations on guitar,
bass, piano, voice and electronics.
Angelita's electronic score for Ebony Rattle's globally touring
critically acclaimed play "Winona" (2023) was glowingly described
as a "loud and abrasive without being overbearing," possessing
"an enviable ability to navigate the spectrum of intensity…
reminiscent of Twin Peaks and Welcome to Nightvale" (Stephanie
Grace, Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane).
Works from Angelita's debut experimental electronic EP
"borderline impersonality have been played in sets at RRR,
Brixton Community Radio and elsewhere. Recent residencies and
development programs include MESS 2024 Professional Development
program, the 2023 SEVENTH Gallery Studio Residency, 2022 Midsumma
Pathways, and the 2021 Multicultural Arts Victoria's Ahead of the
Curve program for young artists.
