Jaslyn Robertson is an emerging composer born in Brisbane and now living in Melbourne.

An excitement for unusual forms of expression, alternate tuning systems and innovation in notation has drawn her to unique instruments including the Theremin, double bell trombone, quartertone flugelhorn and analogue synthesisers. Her practice is varied, with compositions ranging from multimedia and animated notation works to multichannel electronic music, as well as solo and chamber instrumental ensemble pieces.

Jaslyn has been a winner of the 3 Shades Black Homophonic! Pride Prize, the Monash Animated Notation Ensemble Commissioning Prize, and the XYZ Prize for Innovation in Spoken Word Poetry for a collaboration with poet Eloise Grills. In 2020, Sydney ensemble the music box project won the APRA/AMC Excellence in Experimental Music Award for a concert including the premiere of Robertson's work shallow listening.

Her music has been performed at numerous festivals including the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music, Tilde New Music and Sound art Festival and Klangwerkstatt Festival für Neue Musik Berlin. She has participated in prestigious music workshops including the Darmstadt Summer course, Toronto Creative Music Lab and Australian Art Orchestra's Creative Music Intensive.

As a performer and composer of electronic music, Jaslyn's practice centres around creating immersive sound experiences using touch-sensitive and microtonal analogue synthesisers. Since attending an advanced professional development workshop at Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio in 2019, she has been engaged with the electronic music scene. In 2021, RMIT commissioned her to create a large multichannel electronic work for their Black Box 24-speaker room, and in 2022 she will compose another multichannel piece for the Meyer Constellation System in the David Li Sound Gallery through a residency with Monash University Student Theatre.

Researching issues of censorship for marginalised artists with a practice-based approach, Jaslyn is currently a PhD candidate at Monash University.
