Mark 'Munk' Ross is a Jardwadjali/Wotjobulak man that has been
working in the music industry for over 30 years and has produced
& mentored countless artists and acts both in Australia &
Asia.
In 2014 he was the first NSW artist to be inducted into the
National Indigenous Music Awards Hall of Fame for his
contribution to music. Munk has been performing professionally as
a breakdancer since 1984. He started rapping in 1985 & in 1988 he
started performing & producing music professionally, playing in
bands & as a solo artist, until he put together Deadly
Award-winning Hip Hop crew South West Syndicate. Since then he
has toured extensively throughout Australia & internationally in
Asia and the USA, clocking up hundreds of performances the past
quarter of a century.
Since 2013, Mark has been producing & co-writing songs throughout southeast Asia, including four hit singles. These songs have a combined YouTube views of nearly 180 million. He is currently the radio presenter on 93.7FM Koori Radio hosting the "Making Tracks" program. Mark is also a visual artist that has been a feature artist on both Google (Lionel Rose tribute) and YouTube (NAIDOC 22). He has also worked on community educational projects & has for many years including creating, mentoring and working on events with Moogahlin Performing Arts, Vibe Australia, Jimmy Little Foundation, Australia Council, APRA, Young, Black & Deadly, Bankstown Youth Development Service, Blacktown Arts Centre, Fliptop Battles, Skillz Philippines and other organisations.
