Program note: Jesmond Grixti's "Dona nobis pacem"

Born in Malta, Jesmond Grixti currently lives in Canberra. He studied
composition with Franco Donatoni first at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana
in Siena and then at the Accademia Superiore di Musica in Biella. While a
student at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, he also undertook a course
in conducting with Emilio Pomarico at the Civica Scuola di Musica in the
same city. Grixti then furthered his studies in Australia with Brenton
Broadstock at the University of Melbourne and in 2006 was awarded the
degree Doctor of Philosophy (Composition).

 

He is also a Fellow of the
London College of Music, Thames Valley University. Grixti recently
completed his appointment as a Post Doctoral Visiting Scholar in
composition with Don Freund at Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University,
USA.
