Event Details
The idea for this recital came to me when I heard Christopher Pidcock and Ben Ward play a duo for cello and double bass by the Italian Giacinto Scelsi in a Sydney Symphony concert at the Conservatorium of Music last October. This serene work creates a place where time itself seems to slow or even stop. Richard Rourke performs my Mariner Music - a work I wrote for him in 2008 - Greg van der Struik reprises AURIC, possibly my most virtuosic solo. Greg and I workshopped this music for 6 weeks before its premiere season back in 2004. Christine Draeger's solo flute work enthralled me when I heard it in mid- 2014. (Alan Holley)
Shefali Pryor - oboe, Richard Rourke - clarinet, Melissa Coleman - flute, Greg van der Struik - trombone, Christopher Pidcock - cello, Ben Ward - double bass
Featured non-Australian music: Giacinto Scelsi: Et maintenant cʹest à vous de jouer
