Stemming from Zephyr Quartet's collaborative work with local and international poets, A Rain from the Shadows is a mesmerising and poignant reflection on human existence. Zephyr's third release of original compositions by the quartet members combines bittersweet harmonies, soaring melodies and hypnotic rhythms and is an enthralling repertoire of musical commentaries on a myriad of life experiences - from the appreciation of awe-inspiring natural wonders to the beauty and hope born of a new day. Inspired by the poetry of Iraqi-Australian Yahia Al-Samaway, Mexican-American Gary Soto and Australian Rob Walker, A Rain from the Shadows distils global influences to paint a confident and sensual picture of contemporary classical music in Australia today.
