Founded by cellist and ANAM Fellow Mee Na Lojewski, Affinity Collective provides listeners with an inside experience of contemporary chamber music while promoting new compositions and collaborations. Affinity Collective's 2015 program explores an Australian composer’s connection with experimental aesthetics of European music of the past century. In this concert Mee Na will perform the world premiere of Jack Symonds’s Schattensfere for solo cello, which is dedicated to the memory of the Polish composer, Andrzej Panufnik. Also on the program is Panufnik's String quartet no. 3 of five miniatures, nicknamed "Wycinanki" after the Polish rustic art of papercuts, and Alexander von Zemlinsky's forty-minute wartime masterpiece, the String quartet no. 2.
