Event Details

Allotropy Pop-up String Quartet will be joined by soprano Rosemary Ball in a concert of works featuring Australian and world premieres including Sirens by Evan Lawson. Sirens draws upon the ancient story of Orpheus and is based on section of the odyssey where Orpheus saves the members of the Argonaut from the singing of the sirens by playing the lyre. This work explores the sirens - putting each member of the string quartet and the soprano in locations around the room from where they call back and forth to each other.

This program is a community art project by Evan Lawson, ‘composer in residence’ at Bayside City Council’s Billilla Mansion Artists’ studio’s program in association with Bayside’s 2016 Resonance Music Series.
