Event Details

As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2025 ANAM Recital series. Reverie, rumination and release "This recital journeys through three emotional landscapes: reverie, rumination, and release. We begin in a dreamlike realm, with works that evoke fantasy, wonder, and the surreal. These pieces shimmer with imagination, transporting us to a world suspended in time - untethered from reality. From there, the mood turns inward. In the rumination phase, the voice and viola come together in quiet, intimate dialogue, exploring themes of introspection and inner conflict. Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, with its haunting repetition and spiritual depth, deepens this meditative space, inviting us into a place of stillness. The recital concludes with release - the brilliant Concertstück that surges with vitality. It is catharsis through sound: the final, ecstatic breaking free." — Mattea Osenk

Featured non-Australian music: Rebecca CLARKE Morpheus, York BOWEN Fantasia op. 41, Arvo PÄRT Fratres, George ENESCU Concertstück
