Event Details

Formed upon returning to Australia after studying his Master's of music in Austria, Andrew Murray created his new quartet as a vehicle for his new compositions developed during his studies overseas. The new compositions evolved and were influenced from working closely with his professors at the time, including Bob Brookmeyer, Ed Neumeister, and Ed Partyka.

Quartet members have performed nationally and internationally, including performances throughout Australia and also in New York, Austria, Singapore and Germany. Having collectively performed with such jazz greats as Bob Brookmeyer, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Ed Neumeister, Paul Grabowsky, James Morrison, Tony Gould and Jamie Oehlers, the high quality of music produced is guaranteed. Interpreting Murray’s well-crafted compositions is a high distinctive instrumental line-up of Andrew Brooks (alto sax), Andrew Murray (valve trombone), Mat Fagan (guitar) and Nick Abbey (acoustic bass).
