Event Details

Anoesis is a Sydney based quintet formed in 2017 after its founding members met while studying music at the University of New South Wales. The group’s sound is complex and spontaneous, with each member's compositional and improvisational contribution feeding into a sound rooted in the jazz tradition while drawing upon electronica, folk music, R&B, rock and contemporary classical music. 2019 was a big year for the band, travelling to Romania to perform and receive the “Best Band” prize in the “Annual Bucharest Jazz Competition'', releasing their debut Album “The Hermit'' (available on bandcamp and streaming services), while ending the year welcoming drummer Ryu Kodama into the group and playing regularly in Sydney and Interstate.

“After making our Johnston Street Jazz debut in November 2019, Anoesis is returning with a brand new set of music that we are excited to share on this new online platform. We feel honoured to be able to play and perform as a band again during these uncertain times that we are currently experiencing.”

All live streaming on the night through Facebook page. Donations to the band through our Johnson St Jazz bank account.
