Event Details
In 2017, Ensemble Offspring is performing music composed exclusively by women. And to celebrate International Women’s Day, the country’s leading exponents of adventurous new music present a dazzling showcase of curious, bold and brilliant compositions by female composers from around the world.
Drawing inspiration from sources as diverse and intriguing as birdcalls and honeybees, horizontality and Renaissance paintings, this is a concert to change the way you think about music. Hear why Australian composer Liza Lim and acclaimed expats Kate Moore and Melody Eötvös have earned enviable reputations upon the international stage, and discover for yourself the impressive powers of emerging talent Cassie To. Add to this an undisputed classic from Finland’s Kaija Saariaho and the Australian premiere of a work by Estonia’s Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes and you’ll find a global perspective on the state of music today unfolding in your very own backyard.
Featured non-Australian music: Tatjana Kozolva-Johannes – Horizontals; Kaija Saariaho – Cendres
