Experience one of Australia’s most exciting young ensembles
Known for their energetic, joyful and spontaneous performances, their advocacy and love of wind instruments and in particular their strong commitment to supporting Australian music.
Arcadia Winds presents a program of multiple voices coming together in many different ways. This theme is explored first through the idea of counterpoint: in a Trio Sonata by the master of counterpoint himself, J.S. Bach; and in the hypnotic and otherworldly Vermont Counterpoint by Steve Reich. In the second half, many different perspectives are represented. A bright new voice in the Australian compositional landscape will be heard, as Arcadia Winds perform the winning piece from the 2019 Arcadia Winds Composition Prize. Finally, a brand new work for wind quintet and tape by Andrew Ford will depict the perspectives of rural Australians featured in the paintings of Arthur Streeton.
Scenes from Streeton by Andrew Ford commissioned in celebration of Melbourne Recital Centre’s 10th anniversary.
