Event Details
Australia is very much a nation of 'boat people', past and present. With 'Arrivals', Zephyr Quartet explores notions of migration to Australia by boat through music, and with it the trials, obstacles, struggles and successes present in our history. Featuring a program of Australian works covering a range of historical perspectives, including compositions by Paul Stanhope, Kate Moore, Zephyr Quartet members – Hilary Kleinig, Emily Tulloch & Jason Thomas – as well as a new collaborative work with electronic artist Motez, all expressing the oceanic journey to Australia. Arrivals celebrates the incredible courage and great hope that the people who have travelled to our country have shown and also the immense contribution that they have made to our nation.
One night only in Fremantle, followed by a short season in Port Adelaide. This event is supported by Australia Council for the Arts, Arts South Australia, Tura New Music and the Western Australian Maritime Museum.
