In 2012, Asko|Schönberg presented the premiere of Kate Moore's Days and Nature. The composer has adapted the piece for this late night concert and given pride of place to the cello. The three-part work focuses on the relationship between chaos and order. The result is engaging, subtle, spatial, and delicate. At the same time, it is brimming with raw energy and intensity. Kate Moore's career is in the ascendant. Later this year, her Cello Concerto will be issued on CD. An album with piano works is also on the cards. Tonight's concert shows precisely why Moore is so appealing. Her notes – often minimalist – are crystal clear and full of surprising turns. She constantly challenges her listeners, who are left with a taste for more. You never tire of hearing her music.
