Event Details
Impressive sounds and colorful musical arrangements.
The young Swedish conductor Christian Karlsen has for years had a penchant for conducting the music of his compatriot Anders Hillborg. During this concert Karlsen presents a brand new score by him, baptized in a program of personal favorites. Hillborg himself labeled his music as "an overwhelming natural phenomenon." A concert program with impressive sound, colorful orchestration and rich textures.
The work of Iannis Xenakis is often compared with savage forces of nature. The robust sound world of his ensemble work Thallein is exemplary. Kate Moore's Cello Concerto is an exploration of a particular sonic ecosystem that is entrancing and fragile, yet raw, punk, iconoclastic and psychedelic.
Featured non-Australian music: Xenakis, Hillborg
