Event Details
Oozey, spooky, freaky-folky sounds and stories settle on the dusty hall floor for the launch of the phenomenal debut album from Nika Mo, featuring a nine-piece band. Since 2018 Nika Mo has been hitting the scene with tales of jacaranda trees and North Perth backyards, earning WAM nominations for Most Popular New Act 2019, Best EP 2019, and Best Folk Act two years in a row.
In 2021 the project is taking a tangential swerve with mundane Perth-poeticisms giving way to theatrical freak-folk. The new band is a gooey conglomerate of folk-enthusiasts and experimental improvisers, lurking in the outskirts of folktales and leaking between the borders of folk music. We also welcome the return of Boorloo bard (& band) Heathcote Blue, plus a doomy post-human noise opener too - that's the spirit!
Performers: Annika Moses, Lyndon Blue, Nathan Thompson, Gracie Smith, Be Gosper, Shanae Campbell, Josten Myburgh, Dan O'Connor, Jameson Feakes, Djuna Lee, Madeline Blue
