The Australian High Court's popular free concert series on Sundays presents: Australian Women Composers: Sally Whitwell and Sally Greenaway
This concert is a unique opportunity to see two award-winning Australian composer-pianists performing original compositions in the rich acoustics of the High Court. Joined by Wicked-Strings!Quintet, with Barbara Jane Gilby on Violin 1 and Luminescence Chamber Singers featuring Chloe Lankshear (Soprano) and Patrick Baker (Bass-Baritone) Whitwell and Greenaway will perform a range of their contemporary classical compositions.
Sally Whitwell is an award-winning Australian classical music pianist, composer, arranger, conductor and teacher. She has released three solo albums all on the ABC Classics record label. All three albums have peaked in the top 5 on the ARIA Charts' Classical Albums. She has performed internationally working with composers such as Philip Glass. Sally Whitwell's works in this concert include 'Some World Far From Ours', 'The Birds', 'Ad Astra per Aspera', 'Waltzing Alone', 'Reels', 'Road Trip', 'Echo', 'To Your Shore', 'Winter Love'.
Sally Greenaway is an award-winning Australian composer and jazz pianist whose music spans a wide assortment of styles and genres, including numerous classical chamber and orchestral works, several jazz big band works, and more than 20 film soundtracks. Her latest album Aubade & Nocturne has just been released on the ABC Classics record label.
