Event Details

The Grigoryan and Tawadros family names are synonymous with Australian music. Guitar virtuosi, Slava and Leonard Grigoryan, join the extraordinarily talented Joseph and James Tawadros for an adventurous musical partnership that crosses musical boundaries. The exotic sounds of the oud and req’ add an intriguing dimension to this eclectic program. Each a distinguished artist in his own right, this collaboration showcases an exciting interplay of cultures and rhythms, ideas and improvisation.

The Band of Brothers is not just about the coming of two sets of talented brothers who happen to be amazing music makers, it’s a celebration of music and a beautiful friendship. "Its great being apart of BOB, we’ve known each other for many years and have become really good friends. This definitely factors in performance in relation to the groups energy and dynamic and that’s why we really enjoy ourselves on stage" says Joseph. "We are all comfortable, we have an enourmous respect for one another(not just musically) and the bottom line is we have a lot of fun. There is no pressure, its basically four young guys really loving what they do, having a laugh and celebrating our great friendship".

The repertoire performed will be a mixture of some duo pieces by the Grigoryan and Tawadros brothers, a special arrangement of ‘Blackbird’ by the Beatles and some group pieces composed by Joseph Tawadros - Lucca, Ten Ten, Freo and Sahara - dispersed with a plethora of improvisation.
