About Benaud Trio
Since coming together more than 15 years ago, pianist Amir Farid and the Bramble brothers (Lachlan on violin and Ewen on cello) have established themselves as formidable performers of the major repertoire, works by Australian composers and are well-known for their outrageous pop-inspired encores.
About this concert
Whether ephemeral and spontaneous or painstakingly considered, solitary decisions can change the world. Beethoven did just that when he uprooted to Vienna to write piano trios that would ultimately revolutionise classical music. Likewise, in the realm of sport, Australian cricketer Richie Benaud’s cool captaincy and decision-making led to one of the most thrilling match conclusions of all time. Australian composer David John Lang’s new work for the Benauds captures the unforgettable drama of the 1960 ‘Tied Test’ in music.
Featured non-Australian music: Beethoven
