Sam Anning Sextet (Melbourne)

Originally from Fremantle WA, Sam Anning has become an internationally sought after bassist. Sam was an indispensable fixture on the Western Australian jazz scene until relocating to Melbourne, and eventually New York.

He has performed with masters of jazz including Joe Lovano, Charlie Haden, Kenny Werner, Sheila Jordan, Bernie McGann, and Gretchen Parlato.

He has been a finalist for the Freedman Fellowship and Melbourne Music Prize, nominated for ARIA and AIR awards, received the Bell Award for Young Jazz Musician of the Year, and won the 2015 National Jazz Award.

Upon his return to Melbourne he has assembled a stellar ensemble of Australian musicians to perform his unique compositions and arrangements.

Kristin Berardi & Sam Anning Duo (Brisbane & Melbourne)

Vocalist Kristin Berardi and bassist Sam Anning are both highly regarded composers, performers and improvisers.

Kristin Berardi has won multiple international and national awards for her recordings and live performances, including The Shure International Jazz Vocal Competition at Montreux Jazz Festival, three Bell Awards for ‘Best Vocal Album of the year’ and the prestigious national Freedman Fellowship for Jazz. Berardi also enjoys teaching and is currently based at the Brisbane Conservatorium of Music.

Acclaimed bassist Sam Anning is an exceptionally talented Australian jazz artist held in the highest regard by his national and international colleagues. Based in Melbourne Sam travels extensively inspiring audiences around the globe.

This passionate duo join forces to deliver Brisbane patrons an uplifting concert exposing their astute skills, tantalising improvisations and exquisite original creations.
