Celebrate the musical achievements of a lifetime as prolific Australian composer and conductor Richard Mills turns 70.
Join Victorian Opera and Orchestra Victoria for an evening of music-making dedicated to Mills’s 40-year contribution to the Australian music scene – many of his pieces are Australian classics.
Australia’s best-loved opera singers lead the party, with performances from Emma Matthews, Greta Bradman, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, Elizabeth Campbell, Warwick Fyfe and Brenton Spiteri. Mills conducts his eclectic and whimsical award-winning music, from intimate works to the full colour and power of the orchestra, and extracts from his acclaimed opera Summer of the Seventeenth Doll.
