Event Details

Choral@Montsalvat is a music-in-the-round choral festival. Each hour from 12 noon to 5 pm choirs perform simultaneously in three art galleries, giving patrons 13 events from which to choose. Fourteen choirs, community and school-based, will sing a cappella and accompanied classical, folk, spiritual, gospel and popular selections, some of them sacred, some secular, offering choices for all musical tastes. The host choirs are The Melbourne Chamber Choir, which will sing the Latin- American Missa Criolla and the African Missa Luba with colourful instrumental ensembles, and The Melbourne Women’s Choir, which will sing Venetian masterpieces of Vivaldi and his colleagues. The final concert will invite audience participation in the Vivaldi Gloria led by the two choirs. Gates open at 9 am for those wishing to enjoy the Montsalvat café or to picnic in the grounds.
