The Education Revolution

Education in the Asian Century

The now ubiquitous interaction with technology as well as highly competitive levels of education in modern Asian Societies have created new challenges as well as new opportunities for the 21st century.  The idea of ‘education revolution’ touches on most aspects of the what, why and how of learning. This involves Asian languages, advanced technology, interactivity and, last but not least, music.

PROGRAM

11:00am "Chinese Music Through the Ages"
A concert presentation by musicians from the Ding Yi Company (Singapore) and the Chinese Oriental Ensemble (Beijing)

12:00pm Education forum: "Music and Learning in the 21st Century"
A public forum with prominent voices in the education debate including Dr Justin Garrick, Head of CGS,  Richard Gill OAM, conductor and music education advocate, Prof Chen Yi, composer,  Dr Anita Collins
Moderator: Michael Sollis, Artistic Director of Education at Musica Viva

A site-specific concert in the new architecture of the Snow Centre with sheng virtuoso Loo Sze-wang, soprano Shu-Cheen Yu, Nicholas Ng and members of The Song Company

Concert presentation featuring Australia’s most beloved composer Elena Kats-Chernin
