Event Details
The centre-piece of this program, Martin Friedel Cities of the Mind (2002, revised 2010) for choir, solo singers and instrumental ensemble explores the history of science, and themes of the conscious and unconscious mind. An open-form string quartet, Flush, is conceived as a card game by Melbourne composer Neil Kelly. Other mental games and labyrinthine structures complement the program, from the late middle ages to 20th-century America.
Featured non-Australian music: Hildegard v. Bingen, Frederic Rzewski, Max Reger
