Tura New Music announces the first Club Zho for 2013 featuring renowned Melbourne artists Oren Ambarchi &  Joe Talia. Club Zho will be presented for the first time in Fremantle at Mojo’s bar and brings together two of Australia’s most exciting and prolific electro-acoustic improv artists, fresh from a show at Melbourne ATP.

Oren Ambarchi returns to Perth after a string of new releases in 2012.  A composer and multi-instrumentalist with longstanding interests in transcending conventional instrumental approaches, his work focuses on the exploration of the guitar. Ambarchi has performed and recorded with a diverse array of artists such as Fennesz, Otomo Yoshihide, Pimmon, Keiji Haino, John Zorn, Rizili, Voice Crack, Jim O’Rourke, Keith Rowe, Phill Niblock, Dave Grohl, Gunter Muller, Evan Parker, z’ev, Toshimaru Nakamura, Peter Rehberg, Merzbow and many more. Since 2004 Ambarchi has worked with American avant metal outfit Sunn 0))) contributing to many of their releases and side-projects including their Black One album from 2005 and Monoliths & Dimensions.

Joe Talia is a Melbourne based electroacoustic performer who is best regarded for percussion work.  He plays drums, percussion, amplified objects, electronics, and tape machines. After studying improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts, Talia went on to become a key figure in the Australian jazz and improv scene.

The two have worked together on an album for the Touch label called Hit and Run released in 2011.  Talia also features on some of Ambarchi’s solo works for labels including Editions Mego, Bo’Weavil and Rune Grammafon to name a few.
