Event Details
For more than two decades, the Australian Chinese Music Ensemble has captivated audiences with its precise musicianship.
Directed by sheng (Chinese mouth organ) virtuoso Wang Zheng-Ting, the Ensemble’s mastery of both traditional and contemporary Chinese music has led to performances across the country.
Since its establishment in 1989, the Australian Chinese Music Ensemble has collaborated with renowned Australian composers and musicians such as George Dreyfus, Ros Bandt and Jeffrey Crellin. This concert sees the Ensemble perform George Dreyfus’s transporting New Golden Mountain, a new work by Ros Bandt specially commissioned for Melbourne Recital Centre’s 10th Anniversary, and a number of cross-culture favourites. Joining the ensemble on stage is acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Adam Simmons and his trio, Origami.
New works by Ros Bandt and Adam Simmons generously supported by the Playking Foundation as part of Melbourne Recital Centre’s 10th anniversary commissions project.
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre
