Event Details

Brothers Brett and Paul Dean join their long-time friend and colleague Stephen Emmerson for a concert of virtuosic proportions. Fittingly, the program reflects the performers, for at its heart lies the powerful friendship and artistic connections between Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Intrigued by this world of musical codes and references, Martin Bresnick uses Schumann’s secret score annotation ‘***’ as the inspiration for his own extraordinary piece.

SCHUMANN Märchenerzählungen, op 132
BRAHMS Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, op 23 (arr. Stephen Emmerson)

Featured non-Australian music: Schumann, Bresnick, Brahms
