Winter Jazz: Mike Rivett's Digital Seed with special support by Abraham/Morgan/Vanderwal

“To say that Mike Rivett‘s Digital Seed sounds like no other album would already be a compliment. That it is also stunningly good is a bigger one.” The Sydney Morning Herald

Strap yourself in and prepare to be hurled into new sonic terrain. 2015 Freedman Fellowship finalist Mike Rivett returns to Sydney to deliver a special, full-album performance of his critically acclaimed release, Digital Seed. The music will be a journey from what Mike describes as “the earthy, wooden, metallic world of acoustic jazz, through future-tech fusion, finally climaxing in the unleashing of sonic weapons”. But fear not, he says, these weapons will only be used for good.

George Garzone, who knows a thing or two about the force of music, is impressed: "Mike is a strong voice on the saxophone ... come and hear him play ... he is scary!"

Support Act: Matilda Abraham

Matilda Abraham is a Sydney based singer and composer who performs her music as a trio accompanied by laptop. In her clear and honest passion for melody, Matilda searches for ideas that provoke a feeling. Exploring a range of dynamic shifts, Matilda's music encompasses layers of both electronic and acoustic parts interwoven with lush vocal harmonies.

Performers: 8pm - Special Support Artist Matilda Abrahams (vocal, laptop) Carl Morgan (guitar) Ben Vanderwal (drums)

9pm - Headline Performance Mike Rivett (saxophone, clarinet, sonic weapons), Carl Morgan (guitar, sonic weapons), Matilda Abraham (vocals, Ableton), Steve Barry (piano), Cameron Undy (bass), Ben Vanderwal (drums).
