About Eishan Ensemble
Time-bending, genre-defying and globe-hopping, the music of Eishan Ensemble is a work of alchemy. Their ‘flawless combination’ (Songlines, U.K.) of Eastern and Western traditions, from the ancient to the new, is inspiring. Bridging together these different worlds of music-making opens a rich trove of possibilities that the band is just starting to explore.
About the concert
Led by acclaimed Persian-Australian tar (Persian plucked lute) player and composer Hamed Sadeghi, Eishan Ensemble features the marvelous musicality of Michael Avgenicos (saxophone), Maximillian Alduca (double bass) and Adem Yilmaz (percussion). It’s an exhilarating fusion of styles and the band’s improvisations – based on Sadeghi’s original works – are equally powerful. Sophisticated soundscapes are delivered with precision and warmth from this highly capable group of players. The psychedelic virtuosity of Sadeghi on the tar is reason in itself to hear them play.
‘Flawlessly transports you to a world thousands of miles away.’ Overdrive magazine.
