Event Details

Curated by ELISION and presented by Julian Day and the ABC, this concert gives Australian audiences the chance to hear key repertoire by composers who have had long-standing associations with the ensemble, composers that have had a large influence upon the artistic direction of the group, as well as an intriguing line-up of composers who are working with the ensemble for the first time.

Supported by an ARC linkage grant, ELISION and SIAL Sound (RMIT) have undertaken a long-term research project into the spatialisation of instrumental gesture. Some of this research will be incorporated into the large-scale electroacoustic work codex ix.

Performers: ELISION Ensemble Paula Rae | flute Richard Haynes | clarinet Timothy O’Dwyer | saxophone Tristram Williams | trumpet Benjamin Marks | trombone Peter Neville | percussion Daryl Buckley | electric guitar Graeme Jennings | violin Erkki Veltheim | viola Michael Hewes | sound design Jeffrey Hannam | sound spatialisation

Photo: Justin Nicholas

Featured non-Australian music: Richard Barrett – news from nowhere (2011), codex ix (2008); James Erber – An Allegorical Landscape (2010); Sam Hayden – Misguided (2008-2011)
