ENTREE: Seared Blanched Tomato with Yoghurt, Garlic and Chilli

‘Sleet in my Eyes’

Film by James Nguyen

Sound and Music by Danica Hobden

“The in-lens exploration of artificial lights at dawn and manual focus pull gives the sleepy impression of catching the train to an early shift at work. Work is still a distant dream, you dream to become awake, wake only to dream. Nothing seen or heard is in complete focus.”

Words by James Nguyen

MAIN: The Russian Lady’s Stew

Performance Set by Danica Hobden, guitar:

I. Somnambulist - Danica Hobden

II. Prelude from Lute Suite No. 2, BWV 997 - J.S. Bach

III. Pescatarian - Danica Hobden

“I have planned a programme of solo guitar pieces including two original jazz compositions. I wanted to set a challenge for myself to compose and play in this exposed context without the support of a band behind me, whilst really focusing on the strengths of the acoustic instrument. The programme will weave between different courses; modern and traditional, improvised and composed.”

DESSERT: Iced Bean Granita, Sticky Rice, and Coconut

‘flight mode’

Video work by James Nguyen

“I like the feeling of being free but not completely free. If I could fly, I would still like to be tethered. Freedom in suspension. Maybe this is why I am uncomfortable with drone footage, the only drone I like is the drone of the crane. This drowns out dialogue and helps me to focus the mind and the camera. What is most comforting is to be light and free, to be warm and cold, to be full, maybe I still need an umbilical cord.”

Words by James Nguyen

Featured non-Australian music: J.S. Bach
