Event Details

FØNIX: A Talented Young Trio Emerges, comprising James Fortune, who has played the flute and piccolo for Opera Australia Orchestra for over 20 years, Tommaso Girotto, an exciting young guitarist, and Margie Iddison, a cellist, formerly with Opera Australia Orchestra. (Simon Harker is not able to perform at this recital, hence the ensemble’s name-change.)

As part of their program, the trio will perform a world premiere composition, ‘Hark’ by Wesley Stormer.

Stormer often takes inspiration from the motifs and rich harmony of early 20th century French music, and another of his new orchestral work, ‘Awakening & Dance’, will be premiered with the Penrith Symphony Orchestra in May this year, conducted by Paul Terracini. Recently, one of Stormer’s orchestral works was performed on the west coast of the USA, and another, a finalist in a competition is due to be played in America later this year by North State Symphony.
