Event Details
The two Gothic Sonica shows on 20 December (Aliennation at 5pm and 1835 at 9pm) incorporate machines and technology combined with chamber instrumental performance by some of Melbourne's finest. ALIENNATION is mostly solo works and 1835is mostly large chamber ensemble works. Performers include ADAM SIMMONS, PETER NEVILLE, BELINDA WOODS, CAERWEN MARTIN, ANDREW WILLIAMSON, MARTIN MACKERRAS, GUY SEBASTIAN (not really), ANDREA KEEBLE, JASON BUNN, ANITA HUSTAS and TIMOTHY PHILLIPS on baton.
Both shows also explore gothic aesthetics in contemporary music and sonic art practice in Melbourne. Is there an inherent gothicism in our local culture?
