Event Details

From 6 – 16 August, Festival Park will be home to most of the DF20 action. So, to kick things off we’re throwing a party to open the Festival in style.

Housewarming is a free celebration and the whole family is invited to drop by. A stellar line-up of local artists will take to the Sunset Stage and Rimfire Energy Bamboo Bandstand, getting us back in the mood to listen close and let loose (distantly).

After a traditional Welcome to Country, we raise the party energy as the local drummers behind 2019’s spectacular Drumming Up The Storm bring back their powerful Papuan rhythms for a much deserved encore. As the sun goes down, enjoy the sublime violin of Eric Avery, a very special performance from Gary Lang’s NT Dance Company and the warm vocal stylings of the gorgeous Mandy Garling. Or pop in after dark when longtime Darwin favourites Hotel Red really heat things up with a swinging set of soul, blues and funk.

Capacity is limited so come along early and enjoy a range of food and drink available onsite. Or drop in later in the evening for a drink and dance under the stars. No presents required at this Housewarming, but do BYO cushion or picnic rug (no chairs please) for your ‘bubble’.

Here’s the running order for Housewarming to help you plan the best time to visit:

Welcome to Country 5.15pm
Drumming Up The Storm 5.30pm
Mandy Garling 6pm
Eric Avery 6.30pm
Mandy Garling 7pm
NT Dance Company 7.45pm
Hotel Red 8.30pm
