About three years ago, Clinton Green (AKA Undecisive God) began experimenting with multiple turntables prepared with layered shards of broken records and objects. The original concept was to create an "improvising machine", where the turntable randomly skips from vinyl shard to shard, playing tiny samples of each record interspersed with the percussive effect created by the tone arm colliding with the jagged edges of the records. Green would initially improvise on guitar, before progressing to designing compositional structures for multiple turntables alone.

At "Improvising Machines", Green returns to the original concept of prepared turntables as generators of improvisatory materials, this time with multiple performers invited to improvise with his turntables. Three ensembles will perform with Green & different turntable set-ups, featuring a cross selection of Melbourne's avant garde improvisors and innovators.

Performers will mix-and-match across three ensemble performances, exploring sonic collisons between turntables and a range of instrumentation including guitar, home-made instruments, hacked video games, plunderphonics, climaxing with a massed turntable event assisted by Riki-Metisse Marlow & Gabriel Carazo.
