Oboist and Artistic Director of the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), Nick Deutsch invites the world’s finest wind virtuosi to present a series of concerts commencing at ANAM’s home in South Melbourne before touring to Perth and Brisbane. Marie-Luise Neunecker is one of Europe’s leading soloists and pedagogues, for whom Ligeti composed his Horn Concerto; Wally Hase and Dimitri Ashkenazy are regularly in demand internationally as chamber musicians and concerto soloists; and, after a successful career overseas Lyndon Watts is now Melbourne-based and a familiar face at ANAM as both a performer and teacher.

Bringing these personalities together, Richard Strauss’ Suite for 13 wind instruments. Written when the composer was just 20 years of age, this homage to the Baroque suite is full of youthful charm and a delight to hear.
