Together 18 years, the Java Quartet was formed by bandleader and bassist Michael Galeazzi, using the modal jazz styling of Miles Davis and John Coltrane as a starting point. Over that time, the group has defined its own ambience through six albums, focusing on ensemble improvisation to manifest their sound. At once driving, trance-like and reflective, The Java Quartet establishes its own corner of sonic territory.
