Dingo’s International Jazz Day celebrations return this year as Jazz in the North with another jam-packed day of Australian jazz artists at Welcome to Thornbury on Saturday April 27.

In the words of UNESCO Ambassador and jazz legend Herbie Hancock: “Respect for human dignity is firmly integrated into the DNA of jazz International Jazz Day honours this important value by embracing the peace and freedom that jazz so eloquently proclaims.”

It is with this spirit that Dingo’s Jazz in the North celebrates the richness and diversity of the Australian jazz community.

This year Welcome to Thornbury – located in Melbourne’s inner-north – will come alive on Saturday April 27 with Melbourne’s finest emerging and established jazz artists such as:

• Merri-bek City Band Phoenix Project
• 32 Bars
• The Whoopee Project Xpanded - featuring members of the Circus Oz band
• The Mouth - featuring Ray Pereira and Julien Wilson
• Stella Anning (Band)  (presented in conjunction with Melbourne Jazz Co-Op)

Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Jazz & Improvisation Department are a key partner for the event, presenting a mixture of large and small ensembles led by staff and graduate students during the day.

So, join us for live music 2–8:30pm, April 27 in a fantastic, family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Grab a meal, have a drink in the sprawling beer garden and enjoy Australian jazz artists.

Dingo’s vision is to support and promote the activities of the Australian jazz community at all levels, from our renowned artists in international concert halls, to those starting out in their first jam-sessions. Dingo’s aim is to create a platform that allows the whole-of-ecosystem to be able to connect and share information.
