“A bold emerging Aussie voice” – Limelight
Jeremy Rose is an award-winning saxophonist and composer, with over a dozen recordings with his co-led projects The Vampires, The Earshift Orchestra, The Strides and the Jeremy Rose Quartet. His accolades include the 2015 APRA Professional Development Award for Jazz and the 2009 Bell Award for Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year. At Winter Jazz, Jeremy launches his new quintet album Within and Without, recorded in 2016 with one of the world’s leading guitarists, Kurt Rosenwinkel. This new work serves as an excellent overview of Jeremy’s compelling composition and performance style.
With special support by Phil Stack: "Phil Stack proved to be one of the revelations of the [Wangaratta International Jazz] festival... His solo piece was full of drama, surprise, invention and wit…” – The Age
Phil Stack is a founding member of multi-platinum rock/pop group Thirsty Merc. He was awarded first place in the prestigious National Jazz Awards in 2008. In March 2015, he released his first solo singer/songwriter EP Lap Around the Sun, writing, producing and playing many of the instruments himself. This performance is a rare chance to see Phil in solo double bass mode.
