Formed in 2007, this dynamic young ensemble fuses elements of contemporary jazz with classical music and pop music, creating an exciting and eclectic sound of their own that has helped them become one of Perth’s hottest young jazz talents. The recipient of the Perth Jazz Society’s 2007 Special Commission, the JLD also performed at the 2008 York Jazz Festival alongside Australian jazz luminary Jamie Oehlers.

A graduate of the WA Academy of Performing Arts, Johannes Luebbers has won numerous awards, including the 2006 Bob Wyllie scholarship, the 2006 APRA Professional Development Award for Jazz, the 2008 WAM Song Competition (Jazz) and was a finalist in the 2006 Nescafe Big Break. The Johannes Luebbers Dectet’s much anticipated debut album, Make Some Noise will be available on the night.
