Tamara-Anna Cislowska is one of Australia’s most acclaimed and recognised pianists for both her solo and chamber performances, and winner of the 2015 ARIA award for ‘Best Classical Album’ for her recording Peter Sculthorpe: Complete Works for Solo Piano (ABC Classics). She has performed worldwide with repertoire spanning five centuries, and won international prizes in London, Italy and Greece, including the Rovere d’Oro. Known for championing Australian music, she is also a popular regular presenter on ABC Classic FM.

2017 engagements include 14 performances with celebrated composer, Elena Kats-Chernin, and festivals such as Perth International Arts Festival, Canberra International Music Festival, Dark MOFO, Castlemaine State Festival, Bellingen Festival and more for Musica Viva. Tamara tours and records with the Australian Chamber Orchestra for ‘Mountain’, is Music Director for City Recital Hall’s presentation of ‘Elena Kats-Chernin Birthday Bash’ in Sydney and a new show with soprano Amelia Farrugia, and performs Wild Swans in a stunning new concert format with visuals by Regis Lansac. Engagements also include for Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Melbourne Recital Centre, the Art Gallery of NSW, and performances of her third chart-topping album, ‘Unsent Love Letters: meditations on Erik Satie’ for ABC Classics, and now Deutsche Grammophon.

Internationally acknowledged and awarded, composer Elena Kats-Chernin attracts commissions from the world’s leading orchestras, festivals, opera, ballet, and theatre companies including Komische Oper Berlin, Nederlands Dans Theater and the San Francisco Ballet. Popular Classic FM presenter Tamara-Anna Cislowska is one of Australia’s foremost pianists, winner of awards both here and overseas including the 2015 ARIA for ‘Best Classical Album’, the 2012 Art Music Award for ‘Performance of the Year’ and Italy’s Rovere d’Oro.

In this fun-filled tête-a-tête with the composer and her long-time collaborator, we delve into Elena Kats-Chernin’s treasure trove of compositions: a delightful sneak peek into the unique beauty and scope of her music, from her two recent and chart-topping albums with Cislowska: Butterflying and Unsent Love Letters: meditations on the music of Erik Satie, described by critics as “outstanding… a triumph” (Readings Monthly, 2017).
