Event Details

The enigmatic Kronos Quartet will begin their 2009 performance at the Melbourne Recital Centre with Melbourne-born composer J.G. Thirlwell’s Nomatophobis. Drawing from noise-rock, jazz, sound sculpture, serial music and film soundtracks, Thirlwell’s work takes the listener on an ‘unapologetically dramatic’ journey through diverse musical spaces. The concert concludes with Jon Rose's new work Music from 4 fences.

30-minute pre concert talk by Artistic Director Mr. David Barmby starts 45 minutes before the performance in the Salzer Suite.

Featured non-Australian music: Vrebalov, Kulenty et al.
