Event Details

Three emerging Australian composers, Nicole Murphy, Peggy Polias and Michael Sollis, from Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra, will be given the opportunity to have their works performed by the KPO in a workshop performance and recording session in the presence of an audience.
Initiated in 2003 by the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra this annual project provides an opportunity for three emerging composers, generally in their mid 20s to early 30s, to develop their experience in orchestral composition. The KPO is a community based orchestra which has a policy of regularly including Australian and contemporary works in its programs.
‘The workshop program aims both to assist emerging composers and increase the repertoire of new Australian works suitable for performance by community orchestras,’ says KPO president Anne Cahill.
