Event Details
(dis)locations is an immersive musical journey that explores place and displacement, in/stability and ways of seeing, as represented by the powerful metaphor of maps. Maps: selective interpretations that reinforce particular ways of seeing. Maps: illusions of reality. Maps: tools, records and metaphors – of measurement, of travel, of change, of exploration, immigration, aggression and loss… Maps: notation, instruments, starting point and framework… (dis)locations explores metaphors of boundary, fluidity and instability, the tangible and the illusory, place and displacement, views of the past and pathways to futures… Unfolding structures, visual imagery, and the movement of musical components, performers and audience, narrate various possible stories without endpoints. Where are you (dis)located?
Performers: K. Travers Eira, composer Kim Tan, flutes Jennifer Timmins, flutes Ryan Williams, recorders Callum G'Froerer, double bell trumpet Gemma Horbury, keyed trumpet Alicia Parry, tuba Alison Fane, percussion
